2005-03-28 [Delladreing]: true, but would it not make sense to get the corrupt people out of high powers of posisition in the Church so they can stop abusing their privaledges. if those people truly believed in their God, they would not be molesting children and doing awful things like that.
2005-03-28 [iippo]: Hmm, let's see. Giving something a name gives it power. Adam named all the creatures because he was given the power to name and organise the world. God's name is powerful and holy so it shouldn't be spoken. People curse in the names of devils (at least most finnish curse words mean devil). Does anyone else find all this name-business highly intriguing? In Through the Looking-glass Alice and a little-deer (fowl? I habe no idea is that a right word) lose their names in the forest so they forget who they are and therefore the little-deer isn't afraid of Alice. In Spirited Away Chihiro loses her name and it means she is a slave... Wow. I am so intrigued. Gimme more examples, please
2005-03-28 [iippo]: Well, everyone knows themself inside, Del (I like calling you Del, it's like that dude in the Green Mile and I liked that dude) and those people know that when they do wrong, they hurt God, and maybe they also know that they don't believe in God and they should also know that they will be punished in the end. That is the awkward part about christianity for me, the punishing-stuf
2005-03-28 [Delladreing]: Del i supose I can live with, although Dela is the preffered.
2005-03-28 [iippo]: Where does your username come from?
2005-03-28 [Delladreing]: Deladreing, it is Elvish for Fiona.
2005-03-28 [iippo]: Okies.
2005-03-28 [Delladreing]: yuppers. sad isnt it that i know that :p
2005-03-28 [iippo]: Slightly. It's uber when people use the nickname that someone gave them... Not that many do though. A nickname feels more special when someone gives it to you...
2005-03-28 [Delladreing]: well ive been nicknamed Dela...its like my real nickname kinda. my real name is Fiona, but everyone calls me "Fi" just like people call me Dela now
2005-03-28 [iippo]: Fi. Heh. I like nicknaming people. I call my roommate Tibo for no reason at all.
2005-03-28 [Delladreing]: fair enough XP
2005-03-28 [Avoral]: Reminds me of Del tha Funkee Homo Sapien. But yeah, names have been believed to give one power over things. It's sort of giving it JUST that right kind of metaphysical weight.
2005-03-28 [Delladreing]: ...........no bodycall me Del from now on lol XP
2005-03-28 [Lost in Illusions]: ~walks in and sits, still confused~ wha....?
2005-03-29 [Tails Of the Revolution]: My name was originally a man's name... if Anthony's right, metaphysical weight is not on my side. And dela, you said I didn't answer you. Now I'd love to answer you, but I can't remember what we were talking about. Could you help me out, please?
2005-03-29 [iippo]: I don't believe in that giving something a name will give it power... Just because you don't name the thing you fear won't make the thing disappear. But if you know what it is you are afraid of, i.e. know its name, you can control your fear over it... But using something's real name can be powerful (many fantasy-books have that true-name-of-d
2005-03-29 [Delladreing]: lol mockery, you said i made you laugh, one was merely wondering if that was a good thing or a bad that is all :) . and naming things can give them a life sometimes, theres a book by terry pratchett in which a girl has a split personality, its only when she gives the other girl a name that she suddenly has any real power and is able to talk through her.
2005-03-29 [Delladreing]: the book is fictiponal but it makes a good observation of the power naming things can have
2005-03-29 [iippo]: Another one by Pratchett which is uber is it when there is a void in faith, so any kind of godly creature mentioned becomes alive. Like the ohmygod of hangover and the sock-eating-cr
2005-03-29 [Jay Ladlehaus]: Sounds kind of like "Petty Pewter Gods" by Glen Cook.
2005-03-29 [iippo]: Yeah well, it's just a subplot in the Prachett-book.
2005-03-29 [Jay Ladlehaus]: in the Cook one, it is the plot. In the religious street of the city, most beliefs have a place. The most popular (believed in) religions get the front end of the street and gold statues, while the least popular get the back end and pewter. The power of the deities is derived from belief and two sets of religious pantheons are competing to avoid getting removed from the street, which would spell oblivion.
2005-03-29 [Jay Ladlehaus]: There's also a Justice League of America graphic novel where Wonderwoman misuses the Lasso of Truth, which fractures the laws of the universe, causing what everyone believes to become reality. I'd tell you which one, but DC's site is really slow right now for some reason.
2005-03-29 [iippo]: Hmm, *likes the wonderwoman -idea*
2005-03-29 [Jay Ladlehaus]: yeah it was pretty interesting.
2005-03-29 [Avoral]: Yeah, I love Terry Pratchett's stuff. Hehe. Unsurprisingly
2005-03-30 [Tails Of the Revolution]: Pratchett or Atridane?
2005-03-30 [Delladreing]: *loves the Pratchette...e
2005-03-30 [Falx]: *Also loves Pratchet* The first two books I ever read by him were Witches Abroad and Good Omens. I recommend both. Especially Good Omens. It was a very nice team-up with Neil Gaiman
2005-03-30 [Delladreing]: *nods* it was indeed..hmm i must see if i can find that book again i think my father nicked it -.-
2005-03-30 [Falx]: I think the best part of it was the "Bugger all this Bible"
2005-03-30 [Delladreing]: :D hehe ooh man really need to find that book *hunts the father down*
2005-03-30 [Avoral]: Yeah, Good Omens had a nice dark Gaiman-style spin to it. Though I much prefer Pratchett untouched by outside influences.
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: ~he walked in and sat in a corner, scratching his head in confusion~ what are you talking about??!
2005-03-30 [Avoral]: Terry Pratchett, writer of the Discworld series.
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: ah, heard about her or him, but havent read anything by him. What's his work like?
2005-03-30 [Avoral]: It's like a funny, twisted sort of logic. I'll explain in a bit; I must disappear momentarily.
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: sounds good.. like a sort of logical satire?
2005-03-30 [iippo]: It's basically called fantasy parody. But he is so witty, I love the way he writes. My favourite would be Wee Free Men.
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: I want to read him! I also want to read some Nietchze, but I cant find any "alternative" reading... Although I did find Art of War... at least that's one of them.
2005-03-30 [iippo]: *blink!* Art of War is by Sun Tzu... Nietzsche wrote "Thus Spake Zarathustra" (or something that sounds vaguely like that) which is the recommendable thing to read I spose... I personally hate him a little bit ^.^; That means I greatly love to read his text and then shout at the book because he was so stupid... ^.^;
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: I KNOW THAAAAT! I was just saying that the only alternative writing I found was Sun Tzu. I wnat to find Nietzsche somewhere..... Someone reccommended "Anti-Christ" to me, and I wouldnt mind reading a bit of Prachett.
2005-03-30 [iippo]: Ah, you didn't really explain that... ^.^ Well, I found Harpo Speaks! from my local library today and I'm ever so happy (I've read it in Finnish before). I greatly recommend it, it's by Harpo Marx.
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: heh.. Im still trying to finish Art of War and then Im off to read Nietzsche, then I want to find a Pratchett.
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: Companions the Creator wants, not followers...Go read some Glen Cook, OL. There's else like it out there.
2005-03-30 [iippo]: Fair enough. And since this page has a massive lack of Silvie or ara, I must insist that you read Catch-22 by someone whose name has escaped me right now.
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: Joseph Heller
2005-03-30 [iippo]: Dankie.
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: Ive heard of that book.. seems intriguing.
2005-03-30 [iippo]: So far I've just seen the film. I loved it, but then again, it had Artie Garfunkel on it, so I am biased. :P
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: hehe.. you like Simon and Garfunkel?
2005-03-30 [iippo]: Adore them, yep. ^.^
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: yeah there stuff is pretty good. Sound of Silence is still one of my alltime favorites.
2005-03-30 [Avoral]: More like a government/eco
2005-03-30 [iippo]: Absolutely, one of the most beautiful pop-songs ever composed. My favourite by them is either Mrs. Robinson or... something that's name escaped me again *is terrible at remembering today*
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: Let's see...Bridge over Troubled Waters, Cecilia, Look for America (or whatever it's called)?
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: The one that goes: "And we've all gone to look for America."
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: I like Scarborough Fair... I have a CD with some songs by them, but I havnet listened in a long while, and that book sounds very intriguing, Avy. The Chris will have to check it out later!
2005-03-30 [iippo]: It goes like "Everywhere I go, I get hmm-hm-hmmm, lied to, I hear words I never heard in the Bible, and I'm one step ahead on the shoe-shine, two steps away from the county-line" or something that sounds vaguely like that...
2005-03-30 [Lost in Illusions]: hmmmm, interesting... I think Ive heard it, but I woudlnt know...
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: Oh yeah, I Am a Rock and The Boxer are really good too.
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: if you go to http://sglyric
2005-03-30 [iippo]: Keep the customer Satisfied! That was the one!! w00t!
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: which one, rock or boxer? or something you just found on the link?
2005-03-30 [iippo]: the one I couldn't remember what it was called but remembered the lyrics. Rock and Boxer both rawk, though. I've seen simon live, Boxer is an amazing live-song
2005-03-30 [Jay Ladlehaus]: definitely...t
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: And chills are cold. That's why we all need to listen to "19-2000" by Gorillaz. So we don't get cold.
2005-03-31 [Lost in Illusions]: 19-2000... isnt that the one about "sunshine in a bag" I love that song ^^
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: Nah, that's "Clint Eastwood." "19-2000" is the whole "Get the cooooool... Get the cool shoe shiiiiiine..."
2005-03-31 [Lost in Illusions]: oh yeah.. I like that one.... I dont know all the names, but I do have their only CD
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: Me too.
2005-03-31 [Lost in Illusions]: it's fun.. I think Clint Eastwood is my fav... pretty much because it's the only one I can really remember clearly.
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: Hehehe... That was the most popular of all their songs. But it is quite bad-ass. Del tha Funkee Homo Sapien is awesome too.
2005-03-31 [Lost in Illusions]: Im sure I Like that one... just havent listened to the CD in a while... there was one that I like more than the others, but I dont know it... grrr. ~grabs his Gorillaz CD to listen to the songs~
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: Do it. Conform to my might.
2005-03-31 [Lost in Illusions]: hah! Im going to do it, whether it be your might or not, so nYah!
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: Good flunky. Blindly conform to my might.
2005-03-31 [Lost in Illusions]: I will conform to the Avoral... I will conform to the Avoral... ~goes out and kills all goths~ Done, Master.
2005-03-31 [iippo]: Heh Gorillaz pwn. I'm blindly in love with the creepy bassist. And secretly in love with the small chinese girl, but don't tell my chinese friends that. :P
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: Hehehe... Murdock and Noodle, eh? *Gives The Chris a The Chris treat*
2005-03-31 [iippo]: Murdock! I recalled he had an uber name, but I didn't recall it was that uber.
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: Noodle's a cooler name.
2005-03-31 [iippo]: But the guitarist of the Offspring is already called Noodles, so it's a copy-name.
2005-03-31 [Jay Ladlehaus]: Noodle is better used as a weapon name...all tremble before the threat of 40 lashes with a wet Noodle.
2005-03-31 [Avoral]: I can take on a small army with one of those Funnoodles.
2005-03-31 [Lost in Illusions]: NOODLES! ~cowers~ NOOOOOO!
2005-03-31 [iippo]: Yep. And they started at 1985. *noddles*
2005-04-01 [Tails Of the Revolution]: Those things are pure styrofoam evil.
2005-04-01 [iippo]: I thought you were talking about surf-boards and I was all "styrofoam?!?! That's what they're made of??? How can anyone float with that?!?" And then I realised we weren't. :\
2005-04-01 [Delladreing]: i am so lost and confused
2005-04-01 [levhole]: hey avoral you should see the shit fest i stired up on the animal cruelty members wiki
2005-04-01 [Avoral]: Gimme.
2005-04-01 [Avoral]: Hmm... They deleted the posts, did they?
2005-04-01 [Jay Ladlehaus]: lol what did you do, lev?
2005-04-01 [levhole]: well i just asked if hunting animals for food and killing them rather painlessly was cruel, and the ones with half a brain said of course not, but of course there were the few idiots who would rather starve to death than eat a peice of meat
2005-04-01 [levhole]: and then madness ensued
2005-04-01 [Jay Ladlehaus]: there's no reasoning with those people. They need to watch Penn and Teller's show "Bullshit."
2005-04-02 [Avoral]: Yeah, seriously. It happens in the wild, those wanks. Things EAT things.
2005-04-02 [Jay Ladlehaus]: I think the dumbest of that group are the ones who make their dogs go vegetarian. That, ladies and gentleman, is animal cruelty, by making an animal eat what it wasn't designed to.
2005-04-02 [Tails Of the Revolution]: wow... I'd never heard of that before. That's really stupid, but funny.
2005-04-02 [Delladreing]: oh i have seen people that do that, it was a TV reality show..."wife swap" i think. and the other family was just like "your dog is a vegetarian....
2005-04-03 [nokaredes]: I used to be a vegitarian, but if you think about it, we do the same thing to plants that we do to animals...
2005-04-03 [levhole]: but animals have feelings and souls, there for they are the same as us human beings, we are just blessed with a supierior abilty know as cognative reasoning and develpment... there for it is our god given right -- nay -- responsability to protect the weaker from the stronger bully animals like the super endangered cheeta and snow leapord, like OMG are you all fucking killers our something OMG
2005-04-03 [levhole]: blhaagg! *spats of blood come from mouth* whoa -- uhm sorry bout all that, guess the stress and booze are getting to me. *turns to walk away and suddenly bolts through the window*
2005-04-03 [Delladreing]: *watches*..... >.> ..... riiiiiggghhhtt
2005-04-03 [Avoral]: That's Levs.
2005-04-03 [Delladreing]: uhu *continues to look out the window* *takes a breath asthough she is about to say something but then decided agaisnt it*.....well that was...interest
2005-04-03 [Avoral]: ^_^
2005-04-03 [Delladreing]: *looks back at her photoshop screen* anywaays....lo
2005-04-04 [Tails Of the Revolution]: Lev, that was f'in awesome.
2005-04-04 [iippo]: Hmm, how funky, I used to be a veggy too. What was the reason you told people that you were vegetarian? See, I pleaded for religious reasons (I was really into Hare Krishna then). It was weird, I became veggy, then my friends gradualyl became too... it was creepy, more and moer people stopped eating meat... I felt liek I had started a cult. Soon it was mroe special to eat meat then veggy... O'o Now I'm back to my un/healthy habits of eating meat, because I can't afford to be picky when I have to cook for myself.
2005-04-04 [levhole]: thanks mockerey, I try
2005-04-05 [Tails Of the Revolution]: anytime.
2005-04-05 [Delladreing]: *yawns and stretches* i need a target to hit....the rant Avy hlped me start on the other CI. is nearly done...hmmm
2005-04-05 [Falx]: There's another CI? Where?
2005-04-05 [levhole]: elpack
2005-04-05 [Falx]: Cool.
2005-04-06 [iippo]: The conversation got seriously deprived.
2005-04-06 [Delladreing]: *nods in agreement* i was trying to fill in the empty spaces lol...*listens to the silence*
2005-04-06 [levhole]: i'll fill the empty spaces alright:
2005-04-06 [Delladreing]: O_O *hides* eep
2005-04-06 [Falx]: Hey, it's the creepy pic from Keep ELftwn SHallow Free
2005-04-06 [~AzureSkyy.-]: Lmfao ... That's great. =b
2005-04-07 [Tails Of the Revolution]: that pic's really got around, it has.
2005-04-07 [levhole]: yeah it does, Richard D James is tha shit!
2005-04-07 [iippo]: *feels uneducated* That is what from where to do what and what does it mean?
2005-04-07 [levhole]: it is a picture of Richard D. James
2005-04-07 [iippo]: And he is..?
2005-04-07 [Keii]: http://www.war
2005-04-07 [iippo]: Ok...
2005-04-09 [Avoral]: Hehehe... Richard D. James. To think the pic's gotten around so much after I first started circulating it. ^_^
2005-04-09 [Avoral]: Oh, and I know how that goes. Trends start when I do stuff, especially around Ware Shoals (the next town over from me)... They assimilate any product of actual creativity.
2005-04-17 [HiddenFire]: Thought you guys might like this: http://gprime.
2005-04-18 [Avoral]: Hehehe... So true. So true.
2005-04-18 [iippo]: *will click linkie laters* Not in uni-comp - I never know what you sickoes might link me to :P
2005-04-18 [Furr]: It's nothing dangerous. Only a little flash thingy. Nothing bad.
2005-04-18 [Avoral]: Jelly just died 15 minutes ago.
2005-04-18 [Furr]: Jelly?
2005-04-18 [Lost in Illusions]: o.O Well, ducklings arent expected to live past a week without a mother... ~shrug~ Which kinda makes me wonder why ducklings HAVE mothers... heh.
2005-04-18 [Avoral]: Ducks are common housepets, and have been domesticated in China for thousands of years. Well, not one duck for a thousand years... Though an old and wise duck would be kinda neat to have around. Anyway, a heat lamp, blankets, a little pan of water, and love and attention are all a baby duckling needs to survive and grow into full-fledged ducks. Jelly fit the symptoms of a poisoned bird. And now I need to find out what the hell he ate, because it all happened over the course of about 5 minutes.
2005-04-18 [Furr]: Oh, bummer.. :(
2005-04-18 [Avoral]: Not to mention he was nearing on 4 weeks old already.
2005-04-18 [iippo]: Ok, yeah the Flash was uber, but it had sound so that's why I didn't click in class. And *goes berserk over a chinese old and wise duck that's been around for thousand years*
2005-04-18 [Lost in Illusions]: wow... hmmm, did he happen to be painted? My lovey got a duck that was dyed green, and he died because of poisoning from that.
2005-04-18 [Avoral]: *Picturing a Confucian or Taoist duck reciting messages of balance and harmony* Nope, not at all. Jelly stayed all yellow and cute. I think he ate something off the bathroom floor.
2005-04-18 [Delladreing]: >.< meep never a good thing
2005-04-18 [Lost in Illusions]: took it, voted D ^_^ I never take bathrooms.....
2005-04-18 [Lost in Illusions]: yep... lotsa random comments in that last post
2005-04-18 [iippo]: I voted A :P :P :P "Behind of steel!!"
2005-04-18 [Lost in Illusions]: haha! I hate public bathrooms.....
2005-04-18 [iippo]: Yeah... I hate those cubicle-things
2005-04-19 [Lost in Illusions]: o.o;; uh..... yeah.
2005-04-19 [levhole]: uhm... yeah.... about the whole sex in the public bathroom thing -- sorry about that
2005-04-19 [Avoral]: Yeah, Levs and I thought we were being a little quieter.
2005-04-19 [levhole]: you know how it is man
2005-04-19 [Lost in Illusions]: awwww, man.... so that's who you were boinking when I was waiting for you in the next stall! ><
2005-04-19 [Avoral]: Mmhmm. ^_^
2005-04-19 [Lost in Illusions]: daaaaamn you! You know how much I hate those damned stalls, and you stood me up ><
2005-04-19 [Avoral]: Yeah, that's because Levs completely worked me to the bone. (Bwaja, I made a gay sexual pun)
2005-04-19 [Lost in Illusions]: well, youve never had me, dear... youd be surprised what i can do.
2005-04-22 [iippo]: Ewewewewewewew
2005-04-22 [Lost in Illusions]: well, depends on where it is.... in a 4 Seasons or Hilton Hotel public bathroom, you'd have goldplated pottyseats to fuck on xD
2005-04-22 [Avoral]: Yeah, a well-maintaine
2005-04-22 [Lost in Illusions]: our movie theater is not well-maintaine
2005-04-22 [Avoral]: Crabs.
2005-04-22 [Delladreing]: God Haters United mwhahahaha they're baaack *sinks her claws in*
2005-04-22 [Avoral]: Hellz ja.
2005-04-23 [Tails Of the Revolution]: ooh. Joy.
2005-04-24 [levhole]: tonight i sotle a flag from the local golf course and tipped five porta johns by myself good knows what the other two did!
2005-04-24 [levhole]: god instead of good, sorry a case does that some times
2005-04-24 [levhole]: stole instead of sotle, shit, i'm going to call it quits now
2005-04-24 [Tails Of the Revolution]: but still. That's incredibly awesome.
2005-04-24 [levhole]: yeah, that was incredibly stupid too, i can't beleave we did all that shit, and i think my pinky is broke
2005-04-24 [Tails Of the Revolution]: All you need now is a great lie explaining why your pinky is broke.
2005-04-24 [levhole]: well it either happend playing beer can foot ball or when i fell down dropkicking the shiters
2005-04-25 [Tails Of the Revolution]: wow...that's impressive.
2005-04-25 [Avoral]: Ah, drunk at the Citadel. Again. ^_^
2005-04-25 [levhole]: yeah
2005-04-26 [iippo]: Drunk on a thursday-night
2005-04-26 [levhole]: i wish i could get drunk on a thursday
2005-04-26 [iippo]: Is it somehow very difficult? If it helps you, it happened while in the school-buildin
2005-04-26 [Delladreing]: *wants free wine*
2005-04-26 [levhole]: well a millitary college is a little different, i suck a sixer in the other night, on a saturday night when i was actually alowed to leave almost got in some serious shit
2005-04-26 [Lost in Illusions]: free wine? Where? I want some! Got any white zifandel? Or maybe a nice blush? Rose?
2005-04-26 [levhole]: the only thing wine is good for is giving you a massive hangover
2005-04-26 [Avoral]: Holy shit, Levs. Ronaldfest is coming up.
2005-04-26 [Lost in Illusions]: really? I had like 5 glasses one night and got drunk, but no hangover.
2005-04-26 [levhole]: holy shit when will it be
2005-04-27 [iippo]: *never has hangover because knows her limit* neener.
2005-04-27 [Lost in Illusions]: read my philosophy essay on my house! ><
2005-04-27 [maryanne]: This is really funny. Did you know that? This and the Gods of America essay. The funniest thing is I think you might be serious.
2005-04-27 [Lost in Illusions]: ~blinks~ I do hope you aren't talking about my essay, because I am absolutely being serious. Those are my personal philosophies.
2005-04-27 [maryanne]: No I haven't read yours. I'm talking about Avoral's.
